Lt Mike RadfordLieutenant Mike Radford

Lt. Mike Radford was born and raised in Modesto and graduated from Thomas Downey High School. Lt. Radford studied at San Joaquin Delta College where he completed the POST police academy and has obtained a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice Management from Union Institute & University.

Lt. Radford began his career in law enforcement in 1994 joining the ranks of the Stanislaus County Sheriff's department as a custodial deputy working in each of the departments detention facilities. Lt. Radford was promoted to Deputy Sheriff Coroner in 1996 where he worked as a patrol deputy and Field Training Officer. In 2002, Lt. Radford was sent to Salt Lake City Utah along with four other deputies to assist with the safety and security of the Winter Olympics.

He promoted to Sergeant in the Patrol Division in 2002 working in positions of Patrol sergeant, Family Crimes Unit Sergeant, and as the Internal Affairs Sergeant. In 2007, he was promoted to Lieutenant where he has worked as Patrol Commander, Chief of Central Area Command, and is currently the Investigations Lieutenant and Manager of the Field Training Officer program.

Lt. Radford has enjoyed being a member of the Stanislaus County Sheriff Departments SWAT team since 1999 and has held positions of Operator, Team Leader, and Tactical Commander. Lt. Radford is also enjoys teaching and is an active instructor in local police academies teaching Use of Force, Defensive Tactics, and active shooter.
